As many people already know, when I decided to become a SAHM (Stay-at-home-mom) we knew we needed to think of more ways to scrimp and save. One of the things that I talked with Nick about was using cloth diapers.
Now, I know what you're probably thinking...EW! The talk of cloth diapering usually brings back memories of cotton pre-fold diapers that needed to be swished and dunked in the toilet, soaked in a pail, bleached, and fastened with pins.
Well, cloth diapers of today are NOT your momma's diapers. They're made for today's mom and are all about convenience, in addition to reducing your carbon footprint and being more economical, of course!
The type of diapers that we've chosen to use are Fuzzi-Bunz (Click here to visit their website). Fuzzi Bunz are pocket diapers. They're an outer cover with a 'pocket' and then a micro-terry insert is 'stuffed' inside of the pocket. They've got snaps on them, as opposed to velcro, so they're easier to wash b/c they don't stick to each other. And, since I'm breastfeeding, they wash up VERY easily.
Anyway...it's been SO easy to switch Christopher to the cloth diapers (CDs) that I've decided to try them on Nicholas too. I must say that the food poop is a little bit gross to deal with, but...when I did the math and figured that we have spent at LEAST $1500 on diapers for Nicholas and he's not even two years old yet...it's worth it for the cost savings.
Here are pictures of Christopher and Nicholas wearing their Fuzzi Bunz. Another great thing about cloth? The kids look SO cute in them!
